Vote for Luv Shack in the PBS Be More Awards!

The Luv Shack has two upcoming events to tell you about. We have a Fundraiser at the Phoenix Zoo on March 26th. It is by invitation  but is free to attend. If you are interested in the details, please contact Lisa at Lisa@luvshackranch.org.

The second is The Luv Shack Challenge. Modeled after the Mustang Smackdown, this event is sure to be a crowd pleaser. We selected eight local trainers, gave each one of our rescued horses and ninety days to show us what they can do! On May 16th we will showcase their talents in an exhibition. Horse and trainer will be judged on technical skills, artistic value and crowd appreciation. The judges will have biographies on each horse so there will be a handicap factor as well. Please plan on joining us to cheer on your favorite horse or trainer. Look for a Luv Shack Challenge page with information on all of the horses and trainers by the end of March.

A Star Is Born. Welcome Dancer’s Baby!

A star is born. Finally!!! Dancer had her baby on Tuesday at 8:05 PM. He is the cutest little paint. Thanks to Darrah Waters for running over and capturing his first moments on video. Excuse the red light. We had a heat lamp on in the stall! For pictures, visit the “New Arrivals” page.

Sadly, the day before, we lost our beautiful Delilah. She had a large swelling in her neck. When Dr. Sickler investigated, it was filled with blood. For weeks, we hoped that whatever was causing the bleeding would take care of itself but ultimately it was decided that she was suffering too much and that we would have to let her go. Once again, we kissed and held her as she breathed her last breath. Afterwards, Dr. Sickler dissected the area and found an aneurysm. We are thankful that we made the right decision and saved her from a painful death but the loss was tremendous.
